No not another thrashing governments about wind power, but my own endeavors to "be prepared"
Many years back I was asked to do a power survey for my cousin for a solar generating plant, nearly 30 years back .
The cost of providing power for his place was very high, so much a pole, and I think he needed around three.
I priced out a system that would have set him back around $A30,000 and still wouldn't have given him and his family all the power they needed.
Now, modules are a fraction of the price they were back then, and inverters larger, more reliable, pure sine wave and bigger!
With the onslaught of the tree huggers against coal, oil and nuclear over this side of the pond, electricity prices are set to go through the roof, so we decided to "bite the bullet" and build up a solar/wind off grid system.
Purchased 4 solar modules, 24 volt/8 amps a piece so far plus one inverter, a Magnum 24 volt 4Kw 240/120 volt pure sine wave inverter, found a new one at $400 cheaper than anywhere else, they only had one, today they have another, same as the one that arrived yesterday for the same price, it's on order.
These are "stackable" to provide a full continuous 8Kw of power, plenty for our needs!
The system I have in mind will have 8 solar modules, which will give us around 2Kw of energy on good days, around 1000AHr of battery capacity, plus a wind generator as a backup on windy days, 500W, already purchased.
As I assemble the system, I'll take and post photos.
