Has anyone else seen this? Over the last few days I have noticed a lot of Bevin Boys badges appear on ebay, there are two variations by two different sellers, are these fakes??? as I thought the badge was only given by application. If they are fakes who's making them? as i know when badges are made the manufacturer cannot make anymore without permission from the person who commisioned them originally. Under copyright I would not have thought another die could have been made either. I would be interested to hear other peoples comments on this, if they are fakes it's not good for the bevin boys association.

I can't see them being the official badges, as these were only issued to former Bevin Boys who were alive on 20 June 2007, or the widows of men who died after this date, with proof of identity being required at the time of application.
The Bevin Boys Association issued their own plain silver medal, which is also available to the next of kin of former Bevin Boys who died before the date above - again proof of identity is required.
In either case the sale of "new" badges or medals to those who are not entitled to wear them strikes me as just plain wrong.

Hi All For those of you who collect mining badges, please be aware there are several on ebay at the moment. THESE APPEAR TO BE FAKE. The Bevin Boys association are aware of this and are looking into it & what action to take as the badges are only available by an application process.
