I have registered a web site same name as this forum and I am at the moment building it with the material from my now aged site. I will also upload the M&Q Act that Daz kindly copied for me plus old NCB training booklets. This will be an ongoing long chore! Most of which will be winter work! As soon as I have enough material listed, I'll post the URL.

The site URL is coalcollieryandmining.110mb.comSome of it is up and running, but I need to do some editing of the old material, photos to come when I have time. I actually found a host that doesn't advertise too! Not bad for free.

The sites running, but still loads to do with it, including weeding out the bad links on the Links Page, and put photo's up, but it's a start!

I had to take the Index page down yesterday, some twonk took advantage of the fact I hadn't finished uploading files, and some of the "empty" index links took you to a naked womens wrestling site advert. I'll get the files uploaded as soon as possible, then upload the Index page once more.

Not sure what all this means, does it mean this will take the place of the present forum? (personally, I think it's OK as it is)
Not too good with pooters & modern gadgets, I tried downloading "dirty text with pics" to me mobile. Couldn't get it to work, then one of the lads pointed out, my phone is too old to be a picture phone...
Anyway, followed the link above, 'an it's summat about bingo?? What's that about?

No Mick, I'm building a web site to compliment this site, mainly to put things like old NCB training manuals, the M&Q Act of 1954, photos, machine manuals, electrical equipment etc. I can then link to an individual item to here rather than use Photobucket all the time. The site is back up once more minus open links. I'll be posting material from the late Terry Blythes web page too with consent from his Son, maybe the whole web site if it's not up and running again. Shame to let so much info go forever!

I need "Shaft Story" and some of the other old booklets urgently. Anybody got them? If so let me know what you have and I'll let you know if I have them or not. A good quality scan and then email them to me.

I have Mine Gasses, moving coal underground, moving men and materials, trailing cables, Coal story and a few others. I know there are loads of them and I'd like to publish them on my website before they become completely lost!

Still putting the site together, I copied several of the old NCB training booklets. I'm now editing Terry Blythes text from his old web page, lots of tedious work!! I've also found I didn't copy all of his material, so chasing around sending emails trying to get the remainder of the site taxt and photos from other people.

Hi John,
You mentioned in an earlier post that you are haven't got all the booklets (you mentioned "Shaft Story").
I've got a few, but I don't know what you're looking for. If you put a list on here of what you've got I'll scan any of mine that will fill the gaps, and I'm sure others will do the same.
What format and resolution do you want them in/at?
Ask and ye shall receive!! (it's the least any of us can do given your efforts with this site).
I've just come on here for a breath of fresh air after visiting the NMMA forum, where a few check dealers are still pregnant doging on at each other about their eBay activities.

Yeh, funny what the censor comes up with, I did change a couple of them though.
Here's what I have at the moment. Mechanisation at the Coalface. Mine Gasses..... Old and New Copy. Setting Supports Underground. Transport Underground 1 & 2. Pit Ventilation. Coal It's Origin and Occurance. The Pedestrians Handbook.
What I'd like is a good quality jpeg copy of 1/ The old Roof Support and Control. Shaft Story. 2/ Moving Coal Underground. ( I know the ner book transport is based on this old booklet.)
3/ Health and Hygene.
4/ Welcome to Coalmining.
5/ Strata Control
I scanned the ones I have at 33 1/3%, they are nice and large and reasonably easy to read.
Let me know what you have please, there might be others worth putting on the website. I have 5 gigs of space available, and by the time I've done, I'll bet there won't be much room left! Thanks.

Ah, I think we're talking about different periods. I think your's are the 70s/80s landscape shiny-covered ones - I've got "Transport Underground 1 & 2" and "Setting Supports Underground".
I've got more of the early 50s hard-backed red cloth-covered Training Manuals:
No. 1 "The Installation and Moving Over of a Face Belt Conveyor"
No. 2 "The Support of the Roof at the Coal Face"
No. 3 "The Installation and Extension of a Gate Belt Conveyor"
No. 4 "The Operation of a Longwall Cutting Machine"
No. 5 "The Support of the Roof in the Roadway"
In fact, I've just been looking through the bookcase and there's all sorts of stuff - 1911 Coal Mines Act - sections on safety lamps and haulage; a couple (one old, one modern) of booklets on spontaneous combustion, plus some local stuff (including the little booklet issued on the opening of the Madeley Wood pithead baths in 1941 - I used to know some of the blokes that used them on the first day!).
I've also got some brilliant old hardback books, but I don't think you're looking for 100s of pages.....
Any road, let me know if there's owt you can use.

No mate, I did my training in the 60's so the booklets I used were from the late 50's and some printed early 60's. But those will be great what you list. I bought some of the one's I have from Mike Moores bookshop, a couple were sent to me by a bloke who was an apprentice same time as me. All mine got left behind in the UK when I migrated.

Like I said, I have 5 gigs of space on 110Mb.com, I'm working on Terry Blythes material at the moment to get that site back up within my website, then I'll start uploading my material. I'd say I have roughly 3 to 4 gigs of material and photos to upload.

Thanks to Shane Phillips, looks like I'll be able to extend the "Terry Blythe" section of my website. Shane has gone out his way to send me loads of photos of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Colliery photos, and a booklet on Cotgraves second face into the Blackshale seam.
When I know how much space I've consumed, and depending on how much space is left, I may with help from folks out here extend the site to cover the other coalfield collieries, with history and pictures. To start, anyone from Leicestershire, I'd be interested in your old pits.

I've been working on and off on the website material for the last week, overcome a fair few coding bugs. I've uploaded some of Terry Blythes material. As I complete and test more pages, I'll upload those too. Annesley and Babbington pages have been uploaded.

Right, in "terry Blythes section, I have uploaded:- "A" Winning Colliery, Terry didn't have much info, so I'll search later for some to add to that one.
Alfreton Colliery, much the same as above. Annesley Colliery. Arkwright Colliery. Babbington Colliery. Barlborough Colliery. Bentinck Colliery. Bestwood Colliery. Bevercotes Colliery. Bilsthorpe Colliery Blackwell Colliery. Blidworth Colliery. Bolsover Colliery. Bonds Main Colliery. Brinsley Colliery. Brookhill Colliery. Butteryley Park Colliery. Calverton Colliery. The Clay Cross Collieries. Clifton Colliery. Clipstone Colliery. When all info has been uploaded, I'll add more photos, at the moment, there's only one per page. If anyone has more info on any of the pits in that section of my website, please let me know so as I can add it to the correct page.
Again this is an update, some pages have very little to no info, as Terry was still gaining info. Anyone with info on Notts and Derbyshire pits, stories photos etc please contact me, I'll include as much as I can and give you credit for the info. Thanks.
