Andersons have been around the block a few times, sold to an American company, sold to DBT, sold to Buycrus and now almost part of Catapiller....
They make some big machines these days too!!

Makes one wonder if it would still be a British company had Thatcher not killed the UK coal industry off.

Hooray back online. Certainly is ab good video Daz, the ploughs are amazing, makes our little world of the threequarters in shot at Derbyshire mines look very feeble but you can only make the best of what you have. Does anyone know what the main cause of down time is now in these super pits is it elect/mech or some button lad up late the night previous with a blocked chute1

Does anyone know what the main cause of down time is now in these super pits is it elect/mech or some button lad up late the night previous with a blocked chute1 Biggest problem we had when I worked at Angus Place was the belt system wasn't designed for 1000 tonnes an hour. Best we could do was probably 50,000 a week back in the old AM400 days with Gullick shields and cutting 12 foot. Still a big improvement on the 42 inch seams and lower I did my training on many years earlier.
The speed of some of these monster shearers is unbelievable, there is no way I could crawl that fast all shift, the driver is at a good walking pace!
