I presume that after 50 postings you go from trainee to Deputy, but as a pit electrician, I don't want to become a deputy!!!!!

Its no wonder that an Electrician does not want to be a Deputy, it would mean staying awake for the shift! Happy New Year all, Have a good new one.

I've seen a fair few tired Deputies in my time down pits. ;D ;D Most of my opportunities for doing PPM's on the insides of my eyelids faded in private enterprise. I'm not saying they disappeared altogether, but didn't get the same chances due to work load. Private enterprise tries not to employ so many none production staff, so uses the bare minimum required by law to maintain machinery. One company, Cleveland Potash were always way understaffed in both the mech and Elec departments, not through choice though. Mostly through location, they did regular recruiting drives throughout the UK coalfields for experienced Elecs and Fitters with poor results. Anyway, a Happy New Year.

Yes, I remember one deputy who got his head down in the pit bottom box hole and we disconnected the lighting circuit and when he woke up he thought he had gone blind!!!

Finally got my 50 postings and having my IQ reduced to double figures to become a Deputy. How many postings do I need to reduce my IQ even further and become an overman?

1000 to become overman? ? thought that would have been at least Chief Mines Inspector for that high a score. Will anyone ever become an Undermanager?

10,000 for UM and 15,000 for Manager. I might add a General Manager to the rankings.

Gee, if I post 1 EVERY day it will take 30 years to become an Undermanager and 45 years to become a manager and I'll never become an HMI!!!!
