Thanks Philip I'm pretty sure that you are right with Cynheidre, I've actually worked there a few times and to be honest I never thought of it when my mate asked

Didn't show the photo of the two towers, but looks like Phil was right, the picture on the Welsh site is from a different angle.

It is deffinately Cynheidre colliery. I've got a book "Collieries of South Wales Vol 1" There is a aerial shot of Cynheidre and it matches up with the photo on here.

Yep guys you are correct It's a pic from the sidings which ran quite close too shaft two in the fore ground, with shaft one in the background of course. My mate Phill has loads of history about the pit and has also written a fantastic book on the out burst in 1971/2

I have group of Austerity Locomotive photos from an Unknown Colliery - Need HELP to identify the colliery. On the Cab is Printed " Colliery No.8 150/91". On the top line of the tank is "National Coal Board" The second line is obscured by soot and grime, it looks like it is the Division or Area name. Does anyone have an idea which colliery and Division/Area this might be?? THANK YOU. Roy
