after Blidworth shut in 1989/90,i dusted off my LGV class 1 licence, which i had fortunately kept going, and soon found a job driving for Neil Mc.Hugh out of Colwick, near nottingham.I now just work 3 nights for Canute Group out of Gamston Airport near Retford. As for hobby,s,i have been cycling and cycle racing for many years,in the summer months when at pit ,i would cycle from Mansfield to Cuckney, race 10miles,cycle back home for a bit of snap, then cycle to Blidworth, drive the CMT,on nights and cycle home in the morning.I dont think i could do that now!!

Nice one Chocknog, as the song goes; "Forty years on, when afar and asunder
Parted are those who are singing today,
When you look back, and forgetfully wonder
What you were like in your work and your play,
Then, it may be, there will often come o’er you,
Glimpses of notes like the catch of a song –
Visions of boyhood shall float them before you,
Echoes of dreamland shall bear them along,"looking back on some of the things we did, without even a blink of the eye, the effort that was spent (or offtimes misspent), all that rushing about, the riving and towing, ignoring the older blokes warnings to slow down and hurry with a bit less speed, I now wish I'd listened and paid a bit more attention, I might still be able to ride a bike now.

NICE ONE TO YOU TOO,DAZBT,i remember the leg pulling at the pit, strange though because one of the older Colliers was a Trike Champion, and at 75 still rides a bike, one of the Undermanagers was a secret Mountainbiker,i saw him in sherwood pines, and he denied it!Roy Stubbs, who was the Area Safety Engineer, raced with me for,North Notts Olympic.Allan Froggatt, who was a Ripper at Clipstone, also raced with us.Many others jumped on mountain bikes, and are seen out often. One of the younger Colliers Pat Bacon, was last seen by me up National Grid hill, had switched to a road bike from mountain biking, and told me how he was enjoying it.Many others at Blidworth were very good Bowlers, and they would compete at Skeness each summer.
