Blidworth Colliery Notts, really good canteen, and the sausage and tomato cobs, were worth dying for, especially on a snap ticket after 2 hrs o/t coming off nights.Fish and chips on friday were also very good. Most of the Ladies who worked in the canteen, were related in some way to pitmen,it was a big family, and although the pit is shut we see our old pals out and about, unfortunately time is catching up with us all.i was a facechargeman in the High Hazle Seam.I also remember the sausage rolls sold in the canteen at Lound Hall Training centre, they were quite good to .

Do you remember buying meat pies in the canteen, putting them under a belt joint box on top of the transformer and having a warm pie at snap time?
That was before "salmonella" was invented. The temperature on top of the transformer must have been a breeding ground for food poisoning bacteria, either that or there never was any meat in those pies!!
