Well, I knew a one time manager of Daw Mill, bloke called Roy Seward (or undermanager?) & that's definately not him.
Above ground is probably the best place for him...

Maybe a Senior Overman?? Supplies Deputy?? Either way, still takes me back. Bill Clements Manager of Clifton Colliery used to rant and knew all the expletives. Whenever we had a major breakdown, the joiner would get a pane of glass cut ready, he knew the Managers office windows dimensions off by heart, and the surface elec foreman would have a new telephone out ready. Phone through window was common occurrence.

It's Billy Burdett, Surface foreman now, ex-u/g. really nice bloke, do anything for anyone, but he's a bit fiery as you can see!
