Left Shireoaks pit in 1990, former electrician & NUM branch official. Did a few years at Uni, then went into housing management - worked for several Housing Assocociations and Local Auth's. Currently Operations Manager at an HA working in Lincs & S.Yorks. Really enjoy it, but still miss the cameraderie of the pit. Don't think I could go back on the face nowadays!
Have co-written a couple of books on Shireoaks & Steetley colleries - hope to one day write a complete "Mining History of Worksop" one day.

Hi Phil can you add more information to this page please?? coalcollieryandmining.110mb.com/collyS78.html It's on a section of my personal webpage, part of what used to be the late Terry Blythes webpage on pits of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Sadly Terry passed on some 18 months back, and his Son let the site go. I did manage to copy most of his material and get Terry's Son's permission to use any or all the old site. There are many pages with no material and living stateside now, I find it hard to get material on pits. I can give you my email address to send info and any pictures I could use on the site.
