Not mining related, but we had a major icestorm go through last Monday. We were like over a million customers, without power for a few days. We went off about 6-00pm Monday evening and came back around 4-00pm Friday evening. Power lines were down over several states, lots of dead folks, roads impassible whole swath of the south mid west completely closed down. Here's a photo the wife took, it's an oak tree at the start of our property on our only driveway in and out!! Gives you an idea how bad it was. We had over an inch of ice on everything, Kentucky had three to six inches of ice! This is rain that freezes on contact with everything it lands on!

That's bad news. The bad weather missed us in Northern WV, we have had several inches of snow and very cold temperatures and lots of icy roads (2 dead locally in car wrecks but nothing like that).
We had a bad ice storm about 3/4 years ago and had no electricity for three days and I had several trees come down on my property. Your property looks like mine (a jungle). It's a lot of work and I'll be glad when I sell it.
Regards, Linbylad.

We were just on the top edge of the storm, just a few miles north and it would have been all snow. Even those 10 miles to the south were hit real bad, all the way down to Jonesboro in Arkansas. Our whole county was blacked out, we all prepared for it but nobody expected it to be as bad as it was. I have just over 80 acres here, probably 10 to 15 is in natural woodland, oaks, black walnut and hickory are the main trees. All the downed wood will be next winters firewood, so some good comes out of the mess.

There's not a lot left now Lannie, none in the trees, some on the ground that's now as hard as iron. Today is supposed to be back in the 50's as are the next few days, so it will all be gone by the weekend, THANK GOD!! I hate snow and ice! Luckily we don't get much this far south and it rarely lasts more than a couple of days.
