I came across this article and gained permission to use it in the TB section. coalcollieryandmining.110mb.com/collyS84.htmlAs I come across more information, I'll add it to the colliery listings.

Hi, I actually wrote a book on Steetley Colliery in 2002 - a weighty tome of history & memories. The Laing O@rourke site to which you provide a link has outrageously plagiarised my work w/o acknowledgement BTW! - they have been notified! Anyway - happy to help with any info, but book now out of print

Glad you found it, I'll now remove their company name and link and add yours as the author mate. Private mail me your full name etc and I'll correct the credits this weekend.
Any chance of more information and pictures of the pit, and if you send me a picture of the cover of your books, I'll place them on the site as a free ad if you want, contact info price the lot, how would that suit you??

John, No prob's mate, since my email of yesterday to Laing O'Rourke them they have apologised profusely and now added our details and acknowledged ownership of the text on the site, so I'm happy now. In fact I always supported the development they are doing on the old site - continuing hundreds of years of manufacturing (quarrying, coal-mining, refrcatory etc) on the site.
