A little bit of the history of Bestwood colliery vertical winder with photos of whats left. I went on a couple of visits to Bestwood when I did my underground training and the pit was still producing coal. We were shown the Lancaster drift, both top and bottom, walked the cable belt, and down one of the drifts underground. www.fcrammond.clara.net/bestwood_winding_engine_house.htm

Sorry luv, don't place the name, I worked at Clifton until it closed, what did he do at Clifton?? Fitter, faceworker, ripper, Deputy, shotfirer, switchman?? Might help if I knew what work he did. Meadows was the area Clifton was in, that's wher I lived at the time I worked at Clifton
