I've worked with many types of conveyor, but what is the oldest conveyor in the World?

I've worked with many types of conveyor, but what is the oldest conveyor in the World? Would that be the "shaker pan" Bill?

Thick as I am, I still don't understand the question Bill, without doubt the oldest conveyor is man, probably a man made or adapted container followed, then his use of animals to convey, floating conveyors, rafts and boats, machines after that which incorporated some or all of the previous factors. Water wheels, Archimedean Screw, water pipes and chutes, carts, shaker pans, belts, AFCs, vacuum tubes, I dunno, I give in.

Don't forget the button line conveyor. I know its not the oldest but, was used in the early nineteen hundreds around prep plants.

The answer is in these comments. Well done Daz, but which one? Water came first then light. Answer: The Ocean Conveyor. If it stops, as it has once with devastating consequences, we're in deep, deep, trouble.

I'm playing my part in its conservation Bill, I've eliminated bathing and shaving and I'm making a concientious effort to reconvert whisky as fast as I possibly can, I hate to think what will happen to sea levels when I'm gone.
