Now coal is well over the $100 a ton mark, I was reading Japan is reopening it's old coal mines. Some of the most expensive to produce coal in the world. High gas levels, poor mining conditions etc. The have a major problem though, expertise! Appears there are no experienced coal geologists left in Japan and they might also have problems with attracting labour to work underground!
