I'm not sure, But I think I posted a full list of pits as of Vesting day and the NCB's organization somewhere, ie Divisions, areas and sub areas. It was a list someone emailed me who is on the Welsh Collieries forum. It also solved a mystery, what happened to No2 Area of the East Midlands Division. We had 1 through 7 minus No2. It was incorporated into other areas as pits closed.

Although the list is longer from nationalisation I have C&P'd this list from Wikipedia. I'll compile the complete list from 1947 as soon as I find it. * Acton Hall 1985 * Allerton Bywater 1994 * Askern 1991 * Barnburgh 1989 * Barnsley Main 1991 [had originally closed in 1966, but reopened to transfer workforce from defunct 'Barrow' pit in 1985] * Bentley 1993 * Brodsworth 1990 * Brookhouse 1985 * Bullcliffe Wood 1985 (merged with Denby Grange) * Cadeby & Denaby 1986 * Caphouse 1985 (merged with Denby Grange) Still "open" as the National Coal Mining Museum * Cortonwood 1985 * Darfield 1989 (merged with Houghton) * Dearne Valley 1991 * Denby Grange 1991 * Dinnington 1991 * Dodworth 1987 (between 1985-7, only Redbrook shaft operated - known as 'Redbrook Colliery') * Emley Moor 1985 * Ferrymoor 1985 (merged with South Kirkby) * Frickley/South Elmsall 1993 * Fryston 1985 * Gascoigne Wood* 2004 * Glasshoughton 1986 * Goldthorpe 1994 * Grimethorpe 1992 * Hatfield 2004 [Previously closed in 1993 and in 2001 but reopened both times.] * Hickleton 1986 (merged with Goldthorpe) * Houghton 1992 * Kellingley still open * Kilnhurst 1989 * Kinsley 1986 * Kiveton Park 1994 * Ledston Luck 1986 * Maltby still open * Manvers Main 1988 * Markham Main 1992. There is also a colliery just called 'Markham', which is in Derbyshire * Newmarket Silkstone 1983 * North Gawber 1985 (merged with Woolley) * North Selby* 1999 * Nostell 1987 * Park Mill 1989 * Prince of Wales 2002 * Riccall* 2004 * Rossington 2006 * Royston 1989 * Saville (at Normanton) 1985 (often confused with the 'Savile & Shawcross Colliery', which had closed in 1968} * Sharlston 1993 * Silverwood 1994 (merged with Maltby) * South Kirkby 1988 * Stillingfleet* 2004 * Thurcroft 1991 * Treeton 1990 * Wath 1986 (merged with Manvers) * Wheldale 1987 * Whitemoor*1998 * Wistow* 2004 * Woolley 1987 * Yorkshire Main 1985 Here's some missing from the above list: some from my memory some from Dazbt & Erichall Aldwarke 1961 Barley Hill Barrow Carlton Main Don Pedro (points awarded if you know where this was!) And the two fingered Kat Kat goes to Daz. I can't believe it got solved so quick. Yes, for those who didn't know; it was right on the borders where Normanton & Featherstone UDCs and Castleford met, near the now defunct village of Loscoe. Part of the Briggs' empire. It had shut before my time but parts of the buildings were standing into the early 70s. I worked for a bit with a lad, Graham Powis, who had worked down there as an apprentice and who'd been sent in an inspection party of some old workings - very very scary and cramped apparently - not much above 3ft 6 ish.
As a kid one of the neighbours who was a train driver, told me he had been down in the midlands on another job and someone, knowing he was from a mining area asked him "have you ever heard of a pit called Don Pedro George? 'cos we've a great rake of wagons with it on the side and we don't know where to send 'em". They were amazed when straight away he just said send them to Normanton and they'll find their way home.
Did you know the place Daz or just know of it.
Oh and whilst I was typing another's got it .....

Here's some missing from the above list: some from my memory some from Dazbt & Erichall
Aldwarke 1961 Barley Hill Barrow Carlton Main Don Pedro (points awarded if you know where this was!) Fox (drift) Gomersal 1973 Hoyland Silkstone Manor (Wakefield) Methley Junction Middleton Mitchells Main Newmillerdam 1981 New Stubbin 1978 Park Hill (not to be confused with Mill) Peckfield Rob Royd Rockingham Rothwell (Fanny Pit) Shuttle Eye 1973 Skier Spring (drift) Snydale St John's (Newland) Thorpe Hesley Upton Walton (formally Sharlston West) Waterloo (Leeds) West Riding (Pope & Pearsons) Wharncliffe (Pilley) Whitwood (Briggs') Wombwell Main
I might get around to finding closure dates of these - one day - but if anyone else would like to... Kellingley, sadly now closed 2015 One other thing, Savile was really nearer Castleford than Normanton, in fact a spit & throw from Methley Junc.
Another 3 that's sprung to mind
Brierley - which had the dodgy distinction of being the first pit shut by the NCB just after nationalisation in 1947 Haw Park - part of the Walton/Sharlston West complex Oakenshaw - became a training centre to the end of its career; some office buildings still stand as a heating company's offices
Well Don Pedro got rumbled pretty quick - the only other slightly obscure name in the list is ROB ROYD where was that then?

Yup, well Worsborough/Dodworth area, right at the side of the M1. If you have a look at the photo you can see the M1 just off to the extreme right. This was taken around 1981 or 82 if I remember. It survived in this state for quite some time, now of course all gone. And, lastly Daz is disqualified from any further quizzes, as he knows too much !

Not Worsborough, definitely Gilroyd,Dodworth, opposite Needlewood just off Keresforth Hill Road, but you are right about it being close to the M1, opposite and close by was the Strafford Colliery and slightly further on was the Levitt Hagg Colliery, Old and New Sovereign Collieries. Banned eh? .......... fair enough, last comment made, (possibly)
