Hi. Ongoing work on the railway at Ravensthorpe, West Yorkshire, near the railway station there, has uncovered a seam of coal about 4 foot think in the railway embankment. Now I've been trying to search around to find a name for this seam. From some experience in mining in the past in this area (opencast) I know the seams all had names. The questions is, how do I find out this ones name, to add to the photographs I have. Any ideas that may be of help to me. I don't know if any on the mining inspectors are still alive these days. It was back in early 1980s that I was on the old Inghams Colliery site close bye. those seams all had names. Appreciate any advice. ty Rob.
