Anyone remember when the Reg11 came in?? The moment it was brought in, my boss authorised, ( really the Manager wrote the authorisations under advise from the engineers) most of us apprentices on our staff to 11 status so as we could do limited duties, like change light bulbs underground. It also gave us limited duties like sign for weekly PPM's, external examinations of equipment. All the old Reg8 chock fitters were re authorised to Reg11 too. It was around 1967 or thereabouts.

Lamping up, that brings back memories! Day shift and the day shift leading hand would give two apprentices a couple of boxes of lamps and set us off underground changing burnt out lamps.
Just an excuse for us to "goof off"! We'd start at the bottom of Stone Head drift working inbye, passing the outbye bunker and 1s No1 drivehead, none out around there, so on to the manrider station, change any out that had failed. Down to the drift and curve in the manrider road, usually one out in the substation. Then the long walk inbye to 2s main road. We'd check the top of 51's M/G junction, then if all was well, jump on 2's belt for a ride down to the inbye bunker site, usually a couple of lights out around that area. Then we'd stay and chat with the bunker attendant for an hour or two before getting on 1's No4 belt for a ride outbye. Just three more driveheads to check for lights out, then waste what time we had left around the manrider haulage station at the bottom of Stone Head drift. When the day shift were coming out on the manrider, we'd jump on the cable belt for a ride to pit bottom and be first in the queue for the first draw out the pit and a ciggie!

What you will have to do is scan it and load it into a Photobucket account, do a google, then copy it here as an Image. Copy the "Image Code" on the JPG image from Photobucket, then when your ready to post it, select the "picture icon" 4th from the left bottom row on the menu, that will place the img tags here, put your curser arrow between the tags ie [img*] paste image here! [*/img] The stars won't be in the tags, I put them there to cancel the tags function.

I remember that during the 84/85 strike, the police took over our pit and they erected floodlighting. I reported them to HMI as they were not authorised under Section 68 of the M & Q Act and the answers given were that they were appointed as Regulation 11 men under the supervision of the Deputy Electrical Engineer!!!!!
