I read somewhere they we in the process of working on it, but hadn't heard it was working Daz. There is one of the local collieries near that one that has methane drainage in operation, don't know what they do with the methane though. The worst seam in that area for gas is the Wongawilli seam, methane used to bubble at water holes when I was at Wongawilli Colliery in that seam, although for the most part, none was detected on a methanometer. Makes one wonder how much methane escapes from coal seams annually and how much energy it could have provided.

Here's an inkling to what CMM release estimates are throughout the world, it's a good bucketfull at least; www.cospp.com/display_article/296033/122/ARCHI/none/none/1/What-lies-beneath----coal-mine-methane-provides-opportunity-for-CHP-projects/

There was a show on TV a week or so back about methane trapped in the deep oceans as a "frozen hydrite" material. Some Scientists now think these deposits could lead to and have in the past caused global catastrophies. If the "hydrites" are diturbed by say a tsunami, lifting them to higher warmer levels of the oceans, they turn into methane gas and are released into explosive levels for many thousands of square miles, get ignited by lightning, the result being a massive fire storm in the atmosphere. Another theory being that if enough turns to methane gas, we will and probably have had global warming to levels that will kill most life as we know it. Change that to methane hydrates.!!
I just googled it and there's a wealth of info out there.
