Hello! My name is Skip, and I live in the USA, state of Washington these days. I am retired, having had several careers, including years of work in underground mines. Mostly hard-rock mining, but also one coal mine and a couple years in the Soda Ash (Trona) mining at Green River, Wyoming, which used coal methods and equipment. I also worked as a Hoistman, which I believe is a Winding Engineer (?) in UK ......
I have always been interested in mining and mining engineering. Sorry to be off-topic here but I didn't see a forum page to introduce myself.
OK ..... to the question of finding this site. I was reading posts on Facebook relating to mine and maritime illumination (lanterns,) and somehow found the URL for this site. It appears to be an interesting site.
Cheers!

We called the feller who operated the winding engine, "the winding engineman".
And welcome, I take it you were mining Trona the longwall method, which isn't restricted to coal, just geological conditions, and the hardness of the mineral.
