Interesting situation with Russia and Ukraine. I see a lot of the gas which is used in Western Europe comes from Russia via the Ukraine in a pipe line. I wonder if we will shortly see a new plan for coal such as the one in the seventies when the oil prices went up. I doubt it wouldnt be hard for Russia to turn the gas off, with the UK being at the end of the pipe line I bet our lights would go out first.

I read this morning that the PM and Slick Willy signed a treaty in the 90's that if the Ukraine was attacked by Russia, both the US and the UK will send troops to fight them....So if we honour that treaty, I'm afraid the UK will be in a spot of bother with energy shortages.

I think the UK imports 30 million tonnes of coal a year from Russia too. Could be interesting!

Mine wont, outdoor are already all LED and that includes the security lights, inside is all low wattage energy efficient with full LED back up, and all powered by solar panels and a water vortex generator installed in the brook running through my land which kicks out a constant 6KWH so no problems here, sufficient in both energy and heating as this is a deep bore geothermal item keeping the house at a constant 22 degrees and it runs through the barn floors which are concrete slab design so work as a thermal mass and temperature differential, just a couple of non return valves and no fancy heat exchangers or electricity required to run it.
Got my own home made wood gasification plant, although small a larger version can be quickly constructed, and my own wood so plenty of timber.
