I was watching a documentary about the gas ignition at one of Jim Walters mine's in 2001 down in Alabama. Makes me glad I worked in UK and NSW collieries with pretty strict Inspector enforcement and strong unions! That company would have had it's collieries closed down in the UK and NSW with code violations they were issued with! !3 men lost their lives in one incident in 2001! Gas blowers were repeatedly ignored and often were ignited by machinery!
