What about a snap note for anyone making a contribution, or maybe even a water note if it's a guddun? You lot want everything... You'll be wanting an early ride afore long..

Not for me thanks. Them early rides could be a bit embarrasing for the team you are taking off, if you arrive at the face too early they might feel as though you were pushing them out before their shift had finished, that's why I never got to the face much more than an hour before they came off.

John, what about a "Members other interests"? The pit's going to be in the past for most of us, but some will up to things that others could find of interest. For example, the days I'm not at work, I spend building a boat........stuff like that. (unless there already is one, an' I just haven't found it)
Also like to say, Great forum & from what I've seen, a good bunch of lads...

No problem, the site is growing and a new board can be added for "post mining" activities etc.

I reckon that you are right there Inbye, what about a start by linking the two, coal mining and boats, I've said my piece about the AM500 and shipping, but boats and coalmining have many more links, the east coast Colliers transporting Newcastle coals to London, the great part that canal barge transportation played in advancing the coal fuelled Industrial Revolution throughout the Midlands, and particularly the specialised system developed in the Western Area with the Duke of Bridgewater’s achievements in literally combining coal mining and canal transportation. Here’s a secret for you Inbye (I’ll kick myself if you already know this), but, there is a, yet to be restored, underground coal mine canal barge/boat under tarpaulin at Caphouse Museum, you may well be the man they are looking for to refurbish it, or at least offer guidance.)

Hey up Daz, underground canal boat.........reckon that would be a "Starvationer" then as you say from the underground canal sytem at Worsley delph.........where the cut turns to orange pop. I didn't know they had one at Caphouse, but it's the wrong material, anyway. Mine is a steel narrowboat. It's a shame that the workings aren't available to explore, there are miles of canal tunnels, along with two(?) inclined planes (self acting devices to raise and lower the boat from one seam to another) along with a host of other underground archeaology. When you think about it, the majority of what's left of a once great industry, is just where it's hardest to see...........underground

I would like to see where we could upload pictures straight to this site instead of using photo-bucket or any other photo sharing site. Also, a bit childish maybe but, possible avatars and a little bit more personnell info maybe.

I don't know of any forum where you can upload photos etc directly Lannie.
You can ad an avatar in your profile settings.

You can post images from other sites using C&P of the image location Lannie, but the hosts doesn't allow uploads from your own computer. Security would be an issue for them.

Really enjoy the board but do find its size a bit bewildering! There are so many sub-forums I was wondering if it would be worth looking at merging some of the subforums with similar themes.
