At Calverton in the tail gate on A2s face we used to ride on two battens on top of two sets of wheels we used to do 1500 yards in 3 minutes as you were comeing down the gate it was a blur god help us if they was a loco coming .We stop it when we reach the bottom of the gate with a wooden board we used to call it the Flockton Flyer.

I remember about five of us jumped on a flat-bed mine car in K2's tail gate down Hucknall pit, we free-wheeled all the way, we went really fast better than any fairground ride. We managed to stop it before it swung out onto the blackshale north return, we'd just got off when the under-manager came round the corner, phew that was to close for comfort. javascript:add("%20;D")
