Hi guys, I have uploaded to Flickr some photo's of a new sculpture on a roundabout in Pegswood Northumberland ( between Ashington and Morpeth). It is known locally as " Robin of Pegswood" because it looks like an archer. I believe it is meant to depict a miner emerging from the Yard Seam. I do not know the sculptors name but it is a superb piece of art so well done to who ever created it. You can view the photographs at the following link www.flickr.com/photos/81450432@N03/

It’s official name is Fire (why, I’ve no idea). Connection is Welbeck Estates owns part of Sherwood Forest – home of Robin Hood. Artist was Tom Maley. I ended up at Ashington on Saturday, well, Wansbeck A&E actually. Nothing serious. The sculpture is certainly different from other mining sculptures I've seen.

Hi ragger, Yes I have recently learned that it is by Tom Maley, he did a sculpture of Jackie Milburn, I had no idea about the Welbeck estates connection or the fact that it was called " Fire "
thanks for editing the url John.
