This map shows some of Wollatons last workings, they are the ones to the north. There are some narrow longwalls, these ran under Nottingham University, so they were designed with barrier blocks to be left behind to reduce surface subsidence...I doubt it worked well though.
The workings to the south were Clifton Collieries workings from the late 1800's.

What look like old LSD prices, ie 1/5 etc puzzled me for a long time. They turn out to be fault markings, there is usually an arrow designating the throw of the fault.
