did'nt know whether to post here or along with the other piece about high moor but here goes.
my 1st attempt at sending photos with photobucket so bear with me please.
the photo's were taken by myself in the early 1980's also shown is a copy of a letter sent out to everyone praising their efforts and also some of the colliery records at the time.
these pictures were taken one weekend whilst i was on a backshift cover shift and had just got a new 35mm camera so was trying it out.
photo 1
is the entrance to no 4 drift where the fsv's would take all the supplys in direct to the coal face also the manriding belt in and out was thro' there.the brick building immediately on the left was the powder magazine.
photo 4
was taken from the top of the coal bunker-no1 drift is the covered in area with roof lights at the back of the tower lights and no2 drift is a bit farther back (brick built) at the back of tower lights/no1 drift.
photo 5
is the entrance to no3 drift which was originally the fsv route but was problematic due to its size -was just a 2nd intake after that.just above the entrance can be seen 1974-when it was driven.
photo 6
entrance to the canteen/deployment block-taken from the clean side baths entrance.
photo 7
another shot of site taken from top of coal bunker.
photo8
coal tower where all the small coal was sent the loaded into lorries for the power stations.
photo 9
shot of the coal bunker with the weighbridge to the right.
photo 10
shot from the top of the bunker again showing the weighbridge in the distance with no 3 drift a bit farther on to the right.
as mentioned elsewhere on the forum it was a drift mine hence no headstocks also there was no screening plant as such.
i've got to own up i was party to the videos as well as these pics.
hope they are of interest to some-one.
thanks.
