An electrical fire is believed to have resulted in the death of 57 miners whilst 3 more are unaccounted for. The fire started on Sat. 20-Nov in the mine in Shahe city in the Hebei Province. China must have the world's worst mining accident records, officially 14 miners die each day but unofficial estimates indicate the figures should be a great deal higher, probably in the region of 20,000 miners being killed last year. www.asianlabour.org/archives/002530.php

It must have the worst accident record of any country in the world....Almost takes us back to the 18th and 19th century UK coal industry before regulations were introduced and enforced.
