Hello all,
didn't know where to place a first post so chose this research section.
Would anyone know if there is a list of employees held from between 1901 to 1930. Am researching my grandfather Harry Cam(p)bell born abt 1885, husband of Dorothy Arnold married in Rotherham 1912, died 1962 in Essex. Address given on marriage is The Huts, New Orchard, Thurscroft, Yorkshire. Dorothy Arnold's address at marriage is Alma Cottages, Whiston, Yorkshire. A Pit Sinker between 1912 and 1925 at various Pits in the West Riding of Yorkshire.
Also Richard Arnold, my great grandfather, born in Wolverhampton about 1866 married to Sarah Owens in 1892 in Cardiff. Also a Pit Sinker in Yorkshire between 1901 and beyond. Lived in Mexborough, South Kirby and Bramley. 1911 census puts Richard and son Richard Henry at Rowton Lodging House, Dog Bank, Newcastle.
Any pointers much appreciated.
Regards, Dave.

I doubt very much there would be pre NCB colliery employee records kept anywhere Dave. Even NCB personnel records are getting scarce now. Local libraries might be a good start though, town hall archives too might also be another place. Other than those places I can't think of anywhere else.

Hi, I will ask two of my friends who used to work in the administration side of the Northumberland area if they have any Idea as to what records were kept and where and what would have happened to them when the collieries closed.
Malcolm.
