Closed in 1969, Clifton Colliery just south of the city of Nottingham. Picture shows the canteen to the right, with the bathroom/changing room to the left, with headstocks overlooking the site. Another shot of Clifton after closure in 1969. Photo was taken looking east.

Cycled passed there every day on my way to work,Queens drive if I remember right,looks completely different now, Went down Clifton pit on a couple of occasions as a visitor, me Dad worked down there until it's closure

The old two up two downs could have have knocked three houses into one, the three storied houses could have been modernised, after all basically the walls were in first class condition. Now all thats left is a modern housing estate of new slums that won't last anywhere near as long. Yeah, I drove past "my old pit" the Pork Farms factory around 20 years ago when I was over there last..... Shocking the mess that's there now...
