The magnet I have is a N50 rare earth magnet that is 20 x 20mm in size. You will find these on eBay and Amazon, cost between £5 and £10.

A miners protector lamp magnet, can any kind soul guid me on this as I feel I have tried everywhere. Regards and thanks in advance, Peter hardie Astley tyldesley. I believe a neomidum magnet but I need sizes in my. I bought some 12 x 12 x 12mm thick N42 Neodymium Magnets from AMAZON during October 2018 costing about £8 for 4 and I know that 2 definitely work. I will be going into the Mining Institute tomorrow as my lamp is in the safe there. I will check if a single magnet works. The Amazon listing specified that they had a pull of 7.4kg, but that particular listing is no longer there, so I will test to see if the smaller magnets I have will also work. The prices have certainly suffered from inflation since, so you do not want to buy magnets that are stronger than you need.
