I have recently been asked to participate as an advisor on the possibility of coal mining in the UK and with an exit from the rip off unelected EU which is currently controlling us, means it is a distinct possibility if any post exit Government plays along with the current proposals which are:
Open deep mines back in this country and extract coal on an "as needed" basis.
Use only the coal produced from this country only in this country for the production of electricity and gas, liquid fuels such as petrol and oils.
Keep the industry as a people owned asset, not the monolith the industry once was.
Produce sufficient capacity deemed as 50% of current demand to reduce imports of gas and electricity with sufficient spare capacity to remain 100% sufficient of any imports if required.
Build integrated coal mines and electricity generating stations, and gas generating plants.
At present there are plans on the table to do all this and much more which are backed by a great number of people, unfortunately I cannot say anymore at this stage, so thoughts are welcome.

IF is the main word in that statement,
I personally cannot see any government party we have at the moment backing any such Coal Mining resurgence,
Get your advisor fee paid up front is my thought.

As there is no fee there are no issues with payment, it is part of a bigger picture of getting engineering back into the UK.
If is the keyword as it relies upon many variables, but we can be sure that the EU will place restrictions upon our imported resources out of pure spite if we leave and that will involve electricity and gas, hence the proposal to have 50% produced from coal, we can also be assured that if we leave the EU that the present incumbents wont be in office and whoever replaces them will have to do something to ensure and guarantee energy supplies as we are not self sufficient in electricity or gas at the present time.
