Stopped Coal Mining, No Industry...consequences BBC News WalesWales TUC 'target spending in south Wales valleys' call ************* Jobs "Wales TUC - which is driven by trade unions in Wales - has launched a campaign Better Jobs, Closer to Home to demand change to communities where poverty and disadvantage are too common.
As new austerity measures and cuts to benefits by the UK government threatening our most disadvantaged communities with unjust hardship, Wales TUC campaigns for a plan to create a strong local economy driven by decent work.
A Welsh Government new powers to ensure that public investment in our services will create good jobs directly, in the areas that need them most. Trade unions are calling on the Welsh politicians now to commit to using these powers in order to ensure investment dedicated to the valleys with organizations that employ disadvantaged and disabled with good conditions. This means creating good jobs for young people, single parents, adults and people with no qualifications who have been unemployed for a long time, among others. It is a radical step to create practical opportunities to those excluded from the job market.
But that's not all. Wales can not thrive in the valleys of suffering, so now is the time to support the area with a mixture of real and exciting opportunities that will enable people to live without having to move from the area. Full use should be on major projects such as METRO South Wales, for example, with headquarters located in the valleys."Rob

GrimPublished on Feb 13, 2016 Coal was once said to run through the veins of pit villagers, but now, for many of the youngsters who live in former mining communities, it’s heroin. Rob
