For parts, do a search, I'm sure there are cheaper suppliers than Protector. I've been surprised by what I have found when looking for parts for things and how much cheaper they are from other sources.

I’ve got about 30 lamps, there’s a site called Wand of Science, it’s for miners lamps. There’s s guy there called Maurice Dawson and he makes and sells spares. He bought a load of protector parts in the 90’s and is much cheaper than Protector itself. Protector itself seem to charge an arm and a leg for their parts. I’ve found for normal wicks eBay is pretty good. I’ve got 3 lamps just use a thinner flat wick, normal wicks won’t pass through the burners. I’m looking at buying the correct size wicks from the USA although I have made a prototype flat wick from cotton cloth and it worked fine on a HCP lamp I have.

I wonder if those flat wicks used in the kero storm lanterns would work for your flat wick lamps??? They come in various widths, from about 3/8" to around 1".

I need some wicks that are 1/8th inch thick(1.6mm), that’s the thinest you can get. Wicks are normally 2-3mm thick, found a guy that can supply the wicks, he’s just out of stock of the size I need.
