They can be purchased through the Coal Authority, at Berryhill, Mansfield, Notts. There will be a search fee and a charge for each plan. I'd advise you to get the plan number by going to the CA's site and looking them up, that way they don't have to carry out a search. Each seam at a pit could well have several plans!! The cost of each used to be 12 pounds plus postage. About ten years back they told me they had plans to publish all abandonment plans on their website AFTER, they had scanned them all, I stopped holding my breath as I was turning blue....LOL
I'm not sure, but I believe they made a DVD covering every collieries abandonment plans, I heard it was over 100 pounds, might be well worth going that route, could well be cheaper!

Reason I ask is, all abandonment plans of Collieries are now held by the Coal Authority at Berry Hill in Mansfield Notts. From what I understand, they had set up to digitize all plans, they had a special scanning machine built for the purpose, not sure if the task is complete yet, but they started the work about 12 years or so back.
I also understand full digitized versions of all collieries are now available on CD's at a cost!!!

There's a double fee now, a search fee, and a fee for a copy. Not sure, but I'd guess the search fee is scrapped if you provide the plan numbers. Mine came from the CA at Mansfield.
