I suppose it depends on what is meant by low level waste? I remember when the orgreave site at Sheffield was opencasted, a lot of chemical waste was buried in special pits on site.
If low level radioactive is safe to be burried out of the way then I can't see a problem with it, then again I know nothing about it and its miles away from where I live!

The cellars of the Houses of Parliament would be a good place to store it.
