We are making a documentary for ITV which takes a celebratory look at the massive impact that the Duke of Edinburgh has had on ordinary individuals up and down the country. This is a follow-up to a similar documentary we made for the Jubilee celebrations - 'The Queen & I'. We're looking for glorious anecdotes, unexpected stories and an inspiring personal sense of how Prince Philip may have impacted on a particular individual.

As I've stated in a PM to you, I doubt very much anyone who worked on faces back then would be alive today. This is pre mechanisation days, when mining was a lot harder on the body than today.
There is a chance that a young lad who started as a trainee may still be around, but at 77 years of age, slim chance. As many here will testify, dust was the biggest killer, I'm lucky, my lungs are relatively clean as my past X rays confirm, and at 66 this year, my knees are telling me that the few years I spent crawling up and down low faces was a big mistake.
I did post on a Manchester Group on Facebook for you, so far nothing.
In "hindsight" you'd have been luckier in your quest ten years ago...

There's also the other silent killer most of faced in the 40's, 50's and 60's, smoking related health problems, it was hard to find a none smoker back during those years..So if the dust hasn't got them, smoking sure has....
