Bloody hell Daz, you obviously went to school in Langley Mill judging by your maths, by my reckoning 3 X 1/2's makes 1.5. I had a good laugh because Daz got the blame for my daft attempt at a joke, sorry you got the blame Daz, I'll do my penance by having a cuppa tea. It was a twist on a joke the maths teacher told us, it went thus: Half the people are good at fractions, half the people are bad at fractions & the other half couldn't care less..... smshogun, I lived in Langley mill (Thompson Street) for a while when I was a kid & went to Aldercar school & another one down a alley off Ebeneezer street. (cant remember name of school) We moved around a lot when I was a kid & Langley Mill was the best place I lived until we moved to Bestwood Village..

Not to worry colly, you stick to drinking the tea and smiling whilst others; In whisky goggles flying high Our Legal Eagle fluttered by Spots the birdies in the sky Takes his aim and licks his lips Extends his razor talon tips At lightening speed this killer slips In wistful thought he almost savours The dreamy thought of volucrine flavours But, hit the door of our Specsavers He should have gone to KFC (two doors up) Even Legal Eagles are fallible………….. on occasions.

Did most of my schooling at Trent Bridge in the Meadows smshogun, but we moved a lot back then, away from the Meadows, then back to the Meadows. As well as the two schools in Langley Mill I also went to schools (in no particular order) in Gotham, Beeston, Chester-lee-street, Skegness & finally ended up at Beardall street school in Hucknal until I left in 1968. (I was only there a few months) When Dad worked at Bestwood workshops we got a pit house in Bestwood Village & Mam & Dad never moved again & are both buried in Bestwood Village Churhyard..

My Grandparents lived in Bestwood and my dad lived there in the early years, in The Square.
Know Beardall Street school, not sure if its even still there.

I know the Square well, M&D's house on Park Road overlooked it, I spent many hours on the park there chatting up girls, usually didn't succeed but did a couple of times to my suprise. Most of Beardall street school has been demolished, just a small part still standing. I moved there from Trent Bridge 5 months before my leaving date, I was scared to death as new kids at TB always got beat up. (unless they were big buggers) I was only 4 feet 11 so was expecting a pasting, to my suprise nothing happened, I really enjoyed my time there & was sorry to leave. Mind you I managed to get the cane on my last day for pressing the emergency stop button in woodwork.
