Hi, I'm a volunteer from the Friends of Gedling Country Park, which was Gedling Colliery. We lost 128 miners in the old colliery and we'd like to create a memorial gardens but need some help in the form of votes - so no cost to anyone, just two minutes of your time. We've found some potential funding, but it's being allocated to the top four projects with the most public votes. We're currently number six and need a surge in votes in order to be able to build a memorial to remember our fallen miners. Please take two minutes and vote here: www.gedlingcountrypark.org.uk link Every single vote counts. Thank you

You can vote for more than one project, there were ten awards made to different projects last year so it isn't just "a one man race".

Thanks for your support everyone. The reason we approached you guys is because this is a coal miners' memorial and we thought you might be interested in supporting this worthy cause - to mark the 128 miners who died on site. The foundation will issue the £25k to the four community projects with the most votes. As we're in the final week of voting, our project is currently in sixth position, so this is within our grasp. The project page is here: foundation.onefamily.com/projects/gedling-country-park-memorial-gardens/ It shows how to vote on the right hand side. If you want to see a little more about what we're trying to achieve, using reclaimed mining artefacts, please see here: www.gedlingcountrypark.org.uk/memorial-gardens.html Our intention is to provide a reference point, for years to come, for the next generation to understand what used to happen on what's now a pretty country park. Thanks again to each and everyone who has supported us x
