Hi there, I’m new to this site and I wanted to ask a question. I would like to make an announcement about a new web site I’m managing but I don’t want to break any of the rules on this forum. Would somebody please advise me if A) it’s acceptable to make such an announcement and B) which forum I should use?
Many thanks, Christine

As well as violating established copyright laws. Not really a very good advert for a new site in my opinion. We here are on this site do our best to acknowledge all sources of material and photo ownership. This site appears to emanate from Russia..

This forum isn't the only one to have been transcribed verbatum (except for poster's name changes) onto this new site, there are also numerous postings taken from the Welsh Coal Mines Forum (take note Jim).

What's he been posted under?? Mary??? ;D ;D No not Mary, Rowan, he is darrenforonda, at least the last 5 letters bear some sort of significance, perhaps. It's all getting too confusing now, I'm not sure who's who anymore, just checked my birth certificate and I'm definitely not Christine.

I wonder how many of their members are real members??? Probably none at a guess. At least we started with a clean board, built up the membership who made genuine posts.
BTW, it's our birthday next month...Nov 20, 2004! How time flies.

John, the Admin of the Welsh mining forum should also join and make a complaint on behalf of his members and forum too.

It all seems surreal, the fact that Conectmining admin request to post their link on the same site that many if not most of their posts were 'taken' from ..........

It all seems surreal, the fact that Conectmining admin request to post their link on the same site that many if not most of their posts were 'taken' from .......... Yep, they don't do themselves any favours either, they have a good layout with what looks like a paid hosting. When real members start joining and they find the self same posts months, weeks or years old on sites like ours, they will depart in no time. Took us a long time to get built up here with both members, real I may add, and posts. Reputable sites have no need to plagiarize other sites posts.

Well I didn't stay a member of that site for long, she banished me. The lady is Filipino according to the information I have at hand. There are still some of our posts over there. But she will never have a successful site stealing information and plagiarizing it.. I noted my posts were under two different profile names, so my guess is all the members found registered are all the Admins...

Best i post in Welsh from now on then, translations to my Butty`s only, lol Seriously, its surprising what is on the Internet, been taken from forums like this and the Welshcoalmines site, when the Gliesion incident happened last year,i was reading up on the news in the evening, and found a statement of mine, that i had posted at least a year previously, about the owners of the Gliesion back in the 80`s when i worked there for a while, that`s how i had a phone call from the Police, wanting to interview everyone who had worked there. Shows the Police are still keeping tabs on us Ex Miners.

I don't mind anyone using information posted here, after all that's what the site is for, but I do expect the courtesy of the user acknowledging both the poster who posted that info and our site. Usually I make a request to use information from a sites Admin before I use it.

There will be a lot of irate Admins and members from other sites when they find their threads and posts submitted under different names on that site... It's called violation of copyright laws and also known as plagiarism.... It's a stupid way of starting a discussion forum, it's already created it's own death by a stupid young lady who hasn't a clue.

Just had an e-mail from a Mark Mayes from Connect Mining, He has appologised for the copied threads, with different named posters, and explained that his company used a Search Engine company from the Philipines to advertise the site, He has deleted the whole thread, and told the search engine company to stop copying threads from other sites.
Reckon if anyone else who has had threads copied[Mick] leave them a message on the copied thread, and see if it gets deleted like mine.

He's removed everything Jim, don't know why he didn't set the site up himself instead of using contractors, wouldn't take him more than a couple of hours to set up the topics then the boards.

The good news is that even as far away as the Philipines someone is reading the 'ramblings' posted on here ......... and more importantly, perhaps, believed that the information was worth selling ;D Credit due to the guy for confessing and removing the posts from his site.
