 Request To Members.
« Thread Started on Dec 26, 2008, 11:47am »

Can you pass the site name and URL onto other folks who were/are in the mining industry please?
I'm striving to triple our membership and get more regular posters by Christmas 2009.
Thanks.

I'll do all I can to help you John. I know how hard it is to get people on your site. ;)

Thanks Lannie, I am advertised on two prominent sites, would love to see the membership grow and get as much info posted here as possible.
There is a generation now in the UK who haven't a clue as to what coal is or was about. It's important to get those who worked in what was once Britains largest industry, to get their stories before they fade into history.

I'd like to hear from our French, German and Belgian colleagues too, and Dutch ex miners, the industry is all but dead now in those countries.

Best of luck John (and compliments of the season!!!).

I posted a link on the forum of the National Mining Memorabilia Association, but I'm afraid most of the posts on there are from a few dealers accusing each other of selling fake checks on eBay. A shame really because I collect mining memorabilia (not checks), but it's not the place to go for any really useful info. I was going to suggest a few months ago that a memorabilia section would be a good idea on here, but having seen the NMMA Forum I'm not too sure....

Alan Andrews placed a link in a prominent position on the Miners Reunited site, and Adge linked us from the Miners Advice Centre site.
The more links we can get, and I will reciprocate links to sites who do link us, then the more chance of new active members here.
Remember, we are trying to preserve history for the next generation and hopefully a few old mates will be reunited by us or another site through our activities.
We get No1 placing on Google if you do a "google" as coal, colliery and mining!
We also rank pretty high in searches for certain mining items or subjects.
Things like Meco-Moore Slicer Loader, Trepan shearer bring this site up!
