Might be an idea to add links to interesting sites that would aid school children and researchers in the coal industry. To also answer questions.

John, that link to the Bord & Pillar film, was especially good. Wasn't that a cardox shell they were using, to get the coal down?
I didn't notice, did it say what pit it was?

Been a while since I watched that video, so can't comment what pit it was taken at. The only bord and pillar pits I recall were in Leicestershire and the north east together with Durham. There may have been others, but don't know of any. Bord and Pillar was common in shallow workings and under the North Sea, for obvious reasons. Not sure if the Cumberland pits or East Fife pits used that method.
